Trying to avoid another "old artist, new album" pick, I decided to check into these guys after hearing them in a radio bumper. It was a nice sunny, dancey sound that seemed like a great escape from Minnesota winter. Apparently they set out to make this "daytime disco" sound, so we'll check it out LP style and hopefully soak up some rays.

I liked this album out of the gate, and have grown to like it more. The "daytime disco" description of their sound is pretty apt, in that it has a great chill but upbeat vibe, though it sounds less disco-y now that I've given it quite a few spins. It's hard not to move along with it, and it's a good listen any time of day. There's good variance through the tracks, including a couple of slow ones to break up the party a bit. In those cases it seems like the album may be coming to an end, but they're followed up with a bouncy encore that brings you back. As we (hopefully) wrap up our frigid winter here, this album has indeed been a great escape to a California pool party!
